Welcome to Community Presbyterian Church of San Juan Capistrano — The Small Church with a Big Heart
We are pleased you could join us. This is our way of reaching newcomers and persons interested in visiting one of the oldest, established churches in Southern California. Community Presbyterian Church (CPC) serves the communities of San Juan Capistrano, Capistrano Beach, Dana Point, Laguna Beach, Laguna Niguel, and other nearby areas of Southern Orange Country. We're a relatively small but very active community church, which appeals to families and individuals who want intimate worship and a spiritual family. We offer all of the major worship and church education programs of larger churches, and we have one of the most professional and inspirational music programs anywhere. We pride ourselves on our ministry programs and the support we give to our congregation and community. CPC features two services, a 9:00 AM Contemporary service and a 10:30 AM Traditional service. The 9 AM service is followed by a coffee reception on the Church patio where you'll have a chance to meet other members and friends. We have complete Youth and Adult Christian Education programs during and after church services. One thing you will notice about CPC is that it's a very friendly church. We're all here to worship the Lord in a comfortable environment. We provide a worship experience that makes our members and guests feel "right at home." Community Presbyterian Church of San Juan Capistrano would love to have you join us in our House of Worship. Vision Statement Community Presbyterian Church is a congregation that Nurtures people through Christ-centered worship and Teaches them to live as disciples in order to Serve the community in building the Kingdom of God.
The concepts of Nurturing, Teaching and Serving are central to this Vision. Nurture. We are nurtured in worship as we encounter the Living God and are nourished by the Word and Sacrament. Worship prepares our minds and feeds our souls; worship helps us to be grounded in the love of God, the teachings of Christ and the presence of the Holy Spirit.
Teach. We are taught to act and speak as Christ does through the practice of spiritual disciplines including prayer, scripture study, stewardship, and service. Further, we eagerly seek opportunities to develop practical skills that will benefit our community and build the Kingdom of God. We are a resource for discipleship.
Serve. We are blessed in order to be a blessing to others, existing for their sake. The church is non nobis solum – “Not for ourselves alone.” What we receive from God in worship and in teaching, we freely give to the community for God’s glory.
We Believe That All power in heaven and earth is given to Jesus Christ by Almighty God, who raised Christ from the dead and set him above all rule and authority, all power and domination, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. God has put all things under the Lordship of Jesus Christ and has made Christ head of the Church, which is his body. Christ calls the Church into being, giving it all that is necessary for its mission to the world, for its building up, and for its service to God. Christ is present with the Church in both Spirit and Word. It belongs to Christ alone to rule, to teach, to call, and to use the church as he wills, exercising his authority by the ministry of women and men for the establishment and extension of his Kingdom. |
